Quite strange that it passed approval as it I read it barely works at all if you use any other language than English and/or don't have a 3G/3GS iPhone.

Good start in the right direction to slay the ridiculously overpriced SMS dragon.

Re: home of drewie123

Yeah, I'm from a different perception though :) I'm on a jailbreaked 2G, and notifications/PUSH or even backgrounder drains battery on mine. But, it's time to go for the 3GS anyway.

Ping refuses to connect btw. Odd problem.

Re: home of drewie123

I've been running qTweeter for a while now, which runs in the background, and I haven't noticed that much of a difference in terms of battery life.

Even if you don't have a jailbreaked device and use your phone more or less constantly you are still faced with having to charge it quite often. By jailbreaking it and running additional background processes or using Apps with PUSH won't really make a difference. On the contrary, it rather enchances the experience.

Re: home of drewie123

Battery killer?

Re: home of drewie123

Insightful read. It's sad how Japan is among the top tech-trend setters but have the annoying language barrier...

Engrish, anyone?

Re: New Twitter Home Page Is a Slam Dunk

Great input! Fully agree. Great emphasize on what truly is their strength and of greatest importance to the overall user experience of Twitter.

Guess this is a timely shift from "What are you doing right now?" to "What is going on right now?".

Re: New Twitter Home Page Is a Slam Dunk

Thanks for the comment dude.

Actually, yes. You are completely right. In relation to how many updates (or Tweets) are sent from each respective country, Japan grabs the third spot on that list with 15%. Netherlands and Germany are number and two respectively. There are some stats on that over here http://twitterfacts.blogspo...

If I recall correctly, this has also been confirmed by Twitter themselves.

Make sense to translate the site in terms of population and indirectly growth potential. You also have to consider the fact that Japan, as opposed to Germany and the Netherlands, are not very crafty English speakers.

Yeah, login box is wicked. Will add a screen of that one as well.

Re: New Twitter Home Page Is a Slam Dunk

What a change... overdue and duly appreciated.

I really like the horizontal break with the darker blue underneath, it's quite welcoming.

Topic search looks great -- way to put it to the forefront, that seems a shift in focus and I think it's a timely admission that trending topic search (what people are saying about something right now; and even what news is now) is emerging as Twitter's larger strength (and the original 'follow friends and colleagues' purpose is stepping back slightly to allow this to happen).

Next up, Mr. B, are you going to do something with people search? Please oh please...

Re: New Twitter Home Page Is a Slam Dunk

Yeah, twitter's done an awesome job. But do they explain why they only have translations available only in English and Japanese? Is there a greater tweet-rate over in Japan?

PS: Put in a screen shot of the popup sign-in menu, that is pretty cool :)

Re: Spotify Yourself (Without an Invite)

Invite me!!!!
